A physician from London, Ontario (Canada) was investigated and suspended for conducting a MAiD (Medical Aid in Dying ) assessment outside a Tim Horton’s coffee shop.
In June 2023 Ontario doctor Dr. James MacLean met a 45-year-old patient suffering from Crohn’s disease and depression. The doctor then performed his assessment of the patient’s eligibility for euthanasia. The doctor then drove him to an industrial funeral preparation facility and euthanased him. The man’s family were not told and could not even say goodbye.
The Catholic Herald stated an investigation was launched into MacLean following two public complaints relating to two cases involving Canada’s euthanasia and assisted suicide regime, known as Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). In addition to the above case, in the second case MacLean failed to administer the full euthanasia drugs. He declared the patient dead, only for the man to start breathing again after MacLean left the home. Dr. MacLean was reprimanded and required to submit to six months of clinical supervision due to failures to adhere to protocols and procedures but permitted to continue providing MAiD.
