A National Organisation
Right to Life Australia is an independent non-profit organisation, working in partnership with other caring Australians to lobby governments on our identified issues of abortion, euthanasia, infanticide and embryonic stem cell research.
We support adult stem cell research, adoption, and other positive measures that uphold and protect human life.
Our children are Australia's future and also our country's most precious and vulnerable resource. Sadly, one in four Australian children are killed by abortion.
Right to Life Australia does not hold a position on issues such as contraception, sex education and capital punishment.
Right to Life Australia works at a national level on all issues aimed at protecting human life.
Our Heritage
In 1973 Right to Life Victoria was founded in Melbourne to protest moves in the Federal Parliament to legalise abortion in the ACT. Right to Life Victoria was then essentially a small political and educational lobby group. The McKenzie-Lamb was overwhelmingly defeated, a sign to many Australians that justice was not lost. At the same time, however, we realised that many m ore attempts would be made to undermine the dignity of human life, and that our organisation had a crucial role to play in defending life.
Right to Life Victoria merged with Right to Life Australia in September 2001 to become The Right to Life Australia Inc.
More than thirty years later, our work continues as we fight for the rights of the unborn, the disabled, the sick, the elderly, and the unloved in a world where the lack of respect for innocent and frail human life has escalated to the point where many of these people are at risk. and have nobody else to defend them.
Our Role
We will continue to:
- Develop a network of expert spokesmen and women and advocate in the media against abortion and euthanasia.
- Seek to build up and mobilise mass political support to be deployed with maximum impact on the parliamentary process as and when necessary.
- Lobby governments to protect all human life from conception to natural death.
Campaign against:
- Politicians who support legislation that provides for the killing of unborn children, euthanasia or embryo abuse in IVF.
Our Vision
The ultimate goal of the Right to Life Australia is to restore legal protection for innocent human life and to ensure that all women faced with pregnancy have access to practical and emotional support networks.
That the elderly and vulnerable are protected, respected and are allowed to live their lives out in dignity and peace without fear of an untimely death due to euthanasia.
Our Mission
Right to Life Australia is a non-partisan, non-sectarian, not-for-profit organisation of diverse and caring people united to protect the precious gift of human life from fertilisation to natural death.
The organisation participates in election campaigns, political lobbying, peaceful protests and public events aimed at raising public awareness of life issues.
Reaching Out
Right to Life is the primary source of funds for Pregnancy Counselling Australia (PCA), a 24 hour emergency help line which offers alternatives to abortion and post abortion counselling.
PCA receives thousands of calls each year across Australia and can be contacted on 1300 737 732.
